Can You Really Prevent Wrinkles?

Most of us are probably familiar with many of these anti-aging skin care tips, but it's worth repeating, because they are important, that in the future to help prevent wrinkles from forming.

Feed Your Skin - You can not believe that food has that much to do with preventing wrinkles, but it does. Good nutrition, especially antioxidants to fight free radical damage, which can damage skin. Free radicals are a byproduct of life - you just can not escape. They affect your cellular DNA - more than a lifetime - cell by cell, as we age. The best you can do is arm yourself with as much fresh foods, fruits and vegetables ... in fact, a clear skin diet is best skin and certain vitamins for extra hold insurance.

A Exfoliators product is lactic acid, or better known as also known as sour milk. Dry Facial Skin? If You’re Over 40 – Have Your Thyroid Checked

Do you suffer from dry facial skin? It not only makes your skin looks dull, lifeless, and crinkly, but it can make you look years older.

What Causes Dry Skin?

Technically, dry facial skin is skin that has a low level of oil (sebum) -- causing a dull, parched look. Because it lacks moisture it also lacks plumpness.

In some cases, it can become chapped, flaky and cracked – which can also be painful!

Other causes of dry facial skin include:

• under active thyroid or diabetes
• Premenopause – estrogen deficiency
• vitamin deficiencies like vitamins A, D, and essential fatty acids like omega 3 fish oils
• use of certain drugs like antihistamines and diuretics
• constant exposure to harsh soaps, cosmetics, or wind and cold temperatures

So What Can You Do?

There are plenty of steps you can take to soften and moisturize the skin. But first it helps to find out what the cause is.....................................

If you’re over 40 years of age -- Have your thyroid checked.

Have you noticed extra weight gain lately, while still watching you food intake and exercising? If so, you could be suffering from sub-clinical (slightly low) thyroid function.

It’s not so severe that you or your doctor will notice, but just enough to cause small symptoms like sudden dry skin and hair, slight hair loss, slight weight gain, and lower than normal energy levels.

Tell your doctor if these symptoms persist and ask for a thyroid test.

If you’re a woman and over 40, have your other hormones checked, especially estrogen. A decline in estrogen is known to cause dry, itchy skin and other symptoms.

Perhaps, it’s just a case of vitamin deficiency. Many people in this country are severely deficient in omega 3 fish oils. Especially, those who suffer from various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and seborrhea.

Since many people don’t like or can’t afford to eat fish 3 times a week – I’d be afraid of the toxins too – then supplementing with fish oils is a great alternative. Fish oils will also benefit your heart and other organs.

What’s the pH of Your Facial Cleanser

The most important factor in dry facial skin is to stop using soap and even tap water if possible. There are plenty of cleansers on the market –you need to find one that’s gentle, soothing, and has a good pH balance. See www.wrinkle-free-skin-tips.com for advice on which ones were tested to be the best/worst – according to one Medical Journal.

Emu Oil

Not only is Emu Oil soothing and moisturizing, it’s healing oil. Emu oil has been around for thousands of year and has been used by the Aborigines. Having to brave the harsh sun, they knew that Emu Oil can heal and protect their skin.

Lactic Acid

You wouldn’t think of putting an exfoliating acid on dry, cracked, sore skin………………………….

However, the drier your skin, the less chance of a good moisturizer penetrating due to all the flaky, dead skin cells clogging up the pores and preventing your skin from absorbing anything.

Not only will a mild, cream-based lactic acid (which is a milk acid) helps to gently exfoliate the top, dead skin cells, but it’s also a great humectant. It’s hygroscopic, meaning it helps prevent moisture loss by attracting or pulling in moisture from the air.

This is one of my all time favorite humectants – it helps to slough off the upper layer of skin exposing soft dewy skin and encourage new skin cell regeneration.
